Chew, bite and smile completely naturally again with implant-retained dentures.

These dentures provide significantly more stability than traditional dentures and protect your jawbone in the process.

Why our patients love implant-retained dentures

We’ve seen implant-retained dentures improve the quality of many people over the years. If you have multiple gaps in your smile and you’re looking for the most tooth-like solution available, or your dentures no longer fit, you could benefit greatly from implant-retained dentures.

Here’s why

  • They’re ultra-stable: Implant-retained dentures stay firmly in place, whatever you’re eating. They are anchored solidly in place, thanks to the presence of the implants in the jaw. This means you can eat whatever you like. Even steak!
  • A comfortable fit: Traditional dentures can be increasingly uncomfortable to wear, as your jaw recedes over time due to there being no root supporting them. Implants provide the vital tooth root that stops the jawbone from shrinking and causing your dentures to rub and move around.
  • They are tailor-made with precision: We create your dentures to suit your unique facial make-up. The dimensions will be an exact fit for your mouth shape and dentition. Your dentist will show you a series of different shades to choose from, and we can create a digital mock-up of how they will look.
  • Increased confidence and quality of life: The confidence that can come with having a full set of stable teeth cannot be overstated. The peace of mind that comes with having teeth that will stay solidly in place when you’re socialising and eating is monumental. Many of our patients say they wish they had opted for treatment sooner for these reasons.

The implant process

Step 1: Consultation

This is an informal, no-obligation chat about your options, and we welcome any questions you have. No question is too small when you are considering tooth replacement treatment. We value spending time with our patients to make sure they are not rushed and come to a considered decision about how to proceed.

Step 2: Examination

A CBCT scan, X-rays and a full examination of your mouth are carried out. This information helps us to establish your suitability and to plan your treatment.

Step 3: Your implant surgery

The implants are placed under local anaesthesia. We will give you a comprehensive breakdown of what to expect on your surgery day and how to prepare. We will provide you with a temporary set of dentures to wear during the healing period.

Step 4: Healing time

The healing time after implant surgery is generally between 3 and 9 months.

Step 5: Your new smile

Once your jaw has healed and the implants have integrated, you are ready to try your long-term dentures. Your dentist will check the fit of your dentures and the way your teeth bite together. Your dentist will show you how to apply and remove your dentures for cleaning.

FAQs

Why choose Haymarket Dental for implant treatment?

Our workflow is fully digital, which means accuracy is at the heart of everything we do. Nothing is left to chance, and the systems we use are state-of-the-art.

Our implant dentist (and joint practice owner), Dr Andrew Norman, is an experienced implant provider who has undergone comprehensive training at the PID academy since 2024.

He continually studies and researches the field of implants (you might say he’s a bit of a geek when it comes to implants and restorative oral surgery).

In short, he loves dentistry that makes a difference to patients’ lives, and implant dentistry couldn’t fit this definition more suitably.

Can I still get dental problems with implant dentures?

Whilst your dentures can’t sustain cavities, your implants can sustain gum disease. Implant gum disease (known as peri-implantitis) is a very real threat to your implant health and the main reason why implants fail. Attending routine hygienist check-ups and cleaning around your implants effectively.

How long do you go without teeth when getting implants?

Your dentist will provide a temporary set of dentures during the healing time, so you won’t have to go without a set of functional teeth while you wait for your longer-term dentures.

In instances where we need to extract failing teeth, we may need to wait until your jaw has healed before we place your implants.

When are implant-retained dentures needed?

Patients choose to have implant-retained dentures for reasons such as:

  • Their dentures are sliding around whilst eating and chewing.
  • Their old dentures have become uncomfortable and loose.
  • Speech has become inhibited.
  • They no longer want to struggle with the physical and emotional struggles that come with having missing teeth.
  • Gum and bone shrinkage have occurred.
