Our dentists can perform gentle wisdom tooth extractions to alleviate wisdom tooth pain and to help you feel yourself again.
We work diligently, using minimally invasive methods to remove problem wisdom teeth that are causing you pain and affecting the condition of neighbouring teeth and gums.
Dr Andrew Norman and Dr Nash Padayachee are both very experienced dentists in removing difficult wisdom teeth.
Back to General DentistryYour initial visit will involve an examination of your mouth and X-rays to determine the position of the wisdom teeth, their condition and the status of the adjacent teeth and bone.
A minor surgical procedure is carried out to remove the tooth under local anaesthetic. The gums overlying the tooth are moved aside to expose the tooth and bone. Your dentist will then extract the tooth. IV sedation can be arranged if desired.
Your dentist will let you know if they think you could benefit from wisdom tooth removal.
You may be recommended wisdom tooth removal if you:
If you experience intense pain around your wisdom teeth, you should contact us for an emergency dentist appointment.
We recommend contacting us for a check-up appointment if you experience:
Pericoronitis is a condition that can occur when the gum around your wisdom tooth becomes loose, trapping bits of food and plaque. This then causes swelling and pain around the tooth.
Pericoronitis can cause a dull ache and unpleasant odour and taste in your mouth, and it can also make brushing and flossing challenging, which can have the domino effect of causing tooth decay.
If you have recurring pericoronitis, your dentist may suggest extracting your wisdom tooth to alleviate the symptoms and to lower the potential for decay to occur.
